A FEW WORDS
ABOUT PHILIP
Philip Bibel, the Patriarch of the Bibel family, has a long history of writing plays, poetry, and short stories; a number of which have been published over the years. Now that he is in his tenth decade, and hence beyond reproach for unconventionality, it is finally time to publish a rather different collection of his stories - one that he has been calling his "Pornographic Book". It is not pornographic by any modern standard, but it is unquestionably written for adults. A number of readers are expected to recognize some of the characters depicted, and it is obvious that a few names have been changed to perhaps save embarrassment. One advantage of his living such a very long life has been his contact with so many interesting and unusual (and not so unusual) characters from all walks of life. Clearly there is no need to exaggerate, nor embellish the antics of the subjects of these stories. If anything, Philip has generally underplayed the situations. He must be mellowing a bit, as a degree of artistic license has not been unknown in his previous stories.
Many years ago Philip was briefly employed as a linotype operator. Most website readers will have little idea of the operations of this type of machine. It was a device that set moveable lead type (including variable spacers) into frames that were then used in printing presses. Today, most printing presses use metal plates made by an essentially photographic process. Even with the advances in printing, the publishing of a conventional book is highly time consuming and expensive. Furthermore it is often difficult to effect the desired distribution. Since Philip has always been advanced in his thinking, reading, and writing, it is fitting that this newest collection be distributed primarily via the internet.
From a small village in Poland to becoming a dot com. What an astonishing path he has walked, and one can only wonder what his next project will be, for surely there will be another surprise, or two, in the future.
A very limited number of hard copy books have been assembled for the immediate family, but there are no current plans for a more widespread print version of the book. Stories will be added from time to time to the internet version. The text on these pages can, of course, be printed locally, but it is suggested that the material be read here on the website in maintaining the concept of this format of distribution, and to insure it remains within adult view.
This entire web site (all Philip Bibel internet books) is now searchable for words and phrases, including "sounds like" words. The results will be shown in context, and you will be able to hyperlink to the appropriate page. There is a button to select the search function on the menu to the left.
